Pat McGee, give it to me...

Pat McGee and his band of merry men have done it again. These Days, is the accurately named 7th release from these Virginia natives. From start to finish this album has an organic yet passionate sound, that of a true rock band. At times this album evokes feelings of reflection and melancholy, but then turns it around and allows me to see the brighter side of things. I admire the way Pat and his band are able to combine the workings of a straight up jam band, with hints of mainstream pop rock and an undertone of country roots. Musically, These Days is a well blended sound of simple yet very catchy melodies, but with the addition of instruments like saxophone, cello and various percussion tracks makes it even more of a robust sound. At times, I am reminded of such artist as Bon Jovi, Rob Thomas and Johnny Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls, and I believe that pat and his band have qualities destined for the charts! All in all These Days is a well orchestrated piece of gold old fashion rock. Honourable mention to #3 Elizabeth, #4 come back home and #8 end of October.
